Ah Alex!

Alexander Wang Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear

I'm always a little late on the scene when it comes down to talking about catwalk shows. However, I did write this a while ago but never found a right time to post it.

For Wang, Spring 10 is about embracing sporty chic with a young playful twist. He adds pops of reds and blues to his central combination of sportswear greys, light leather browns and beiges. Although Wang refers back to his inspiration, American football, with squared shoulders, there is also a certain degree of girlyness. Something else that screams Wang's sporty theme is the sports bra shapes. He doesn't pile layers after layers of clothes on his models nor does he over do the minimalistic stuff; Wang's collection is just right. All of this hit me with a completely free and effortless vibe. Of course the presentation of the models contribute to this: messy loose plaits and natural nude make-up is cleverly worn here. I've already seen a couple of bloggers wear their hair like this and it is so gorgeous. I must say, I am really quite envious (I have short hair you see). Alexander Wang is awesome.
